How to Operate the MX122
The McIntosh MX122 has been factory configured
for default operating settings, allowing for immedi
-
ate enjoyment of superb video and high fidelity audio
without the need for further adjustments. If you wish
to make changes to the factory default settings, refer
to the SETUP Section of this Owner’s Manual starting
on page 16.
Notes: 1. It is advisable to perform “Audyssey Auto
Setup” starting on page 29, to ensure the
best audio performance.
2. In order for some of the Remote Control
Push-Button Commands to be implemented
by the MX122, such as activating the SETUP
Menu Function, the LCD Display on the Re-
mote Control needs to indicate “AVP”. If the
LCD Display does not indicate “AVP”, press
the "AVP" Push-button first before pressing
the SETUP Push-button.
Power On and Off
Press the STANDBY ON Push-button on the Front
Panel or press the ON Push-button on the Remote
Control. The LED located above the STANDBY Push-
button indicates when the MX122 is connected to AC
Power. When the Initialization process is over, the
display will indicate the last source selected and the
volume level.
Notes: 1. The first time the MX122 is switched On
the A/V Processor will go through an Initial
Setup Process. Please refer to the separate
supplied sheet
"MX122 Initial Setup Guide"
and follow the instructions.
2. If the MX122 A/V Processor is not going to
be used for an extended period of time, please
remove the AC Power Cord from the AC
Outlet.
Input Selection
The INPUT Control selects the desired source and is
indicated on the top line of the Front Panel Informa-
tion Display. Refer to figure 20. The selection of the
sources may also be accomplished by pressing the
appropriate push-button on the Remote Control. Refer
to figure 23. Using the MX122 INPUT Control, any
one of the Inputs (CD, Tuner, DVD, Blu-ray, etc.)
may be selected along with one Multichannel Analog
Input. The Remote Control has twelve dedicated direct
access push-buttons along with

Note: To access the 7.1 Analog Multichannel Input
Connection, assign it to a specific Input. Refer to
Inputs Setup Menu, "Input Select- Input Mode" on
page 21.
Volume Control and Muting
Adjust the VOLUME Control to select the desired lis
-
tening level. The Volume Control adjusts all channels
simultaneously. The Volume Level is indicated from
0.0 to 98% on the Front Panel Information Display and
on the TV/Monitor Screen. The Remote Control may
also be used to adjust the listening level by using the
VOLUME
+/-
Push-button.
During the time VOLUME Control is rotated or
the Remote Control VOL
+/-
Push-button is depressed,
an On-Screen Display Overlay will appear showing
the Volume Level. When the MUTE Push-button is
pressed, the Front Panel Information Display will indi
-
cate “MUTING On”. Pressing the MUTE Push-button
a second time, the Display will indicate “MUTING
Off” and the listening volume level will be restored.
