SYSTEM CONFIGURATION USING ON-BOARD PRESETS
An MLA Mini system can be rigged in a wide variety of ways, in both ground-stacked and flown
configurations. The system size and rigging option to be used will generally be dictated by the
venue’s size and physical restrictions.
To achieve the best performance from the system it should be optimised both physically and
electronically. This optimisation can be achieved in two ways – by using internal factory Presets,
or through the use of two software applications:
Display 2.2
and
Vu-Net
.
The use of Presets greatly simplifies the system optimisation procedure, but note that the six
Presets pre-loaded into the MSX sub are only applicable to the minimum MLA Mini configurations
consisting of one MSX sub plus four MLA Mini cabinets (per side). For all larger configurations,
the two software applications must be used.
The configuration options using Presets are discussed below. Configuring systems using Display
2.2 follows at page 30.
Using Presets
4 MLA Minis and one MSX can be rigged in four basic arrangements: two ground stacked,
and two flown. The option chosen for any particular situation will be largely determined by the
physical arrangements of the venue. Whichever arrangement is used, at least one factory preset
is available for optimising the system’s performance in that configuration. In the manual section
on Rigging, the Preset appropriate to each rigging configuration is indicated by an icon thus:
The rigging possibilities are illustrated below; see page 54 for full details of how to perform
the actual physical rigging for each.
