Customizing Dreamweaver
Macromedia Dreamweaver can be customized in many ways, allowing you to
work in a manner that’s familiar, comfortable, and efficient for you.
The following are some of the ways you can customize Dreamweaver:
•
Set preferences for everything from color schemes and highlighting to site
configurations and browsers. See “Setting preferences” on page 88.
•
Change keyboard shortcuts. To change shortcuts using a graphical interface
from within Dreamweaver, see “Using the Keyboard Shortcut Editor” on page
90. If you prefer to edit a text file to change the keyboard shortcuts, see
“Changing keyboard shortcuts” on page 521.
•
Add third-party extensions. See “Adding extensions to Dreamweaver” on page 93.
•
Rearrange the objects in the Objects panel so that the ones you use most often
are always visible, create new categories to reorganize the objects, or add new
objects. See “Modifying the Objects panel” on page 515.
•
Change the names of menu items, add new commands to menus, and remove
existing commands from menus. See “About customizing Dreamweaver
menus” on page 517.
•
Edit the source formatting profile to gain finer control over the format of
HTML that Dreamweaver creates. The SourceFormat.txt file includes all the
settings from the HTML Format preferences and more. See “Changing default

Change how third-party tags (such as ASP and ColdFusion tags) appear in the
