2 Description
2.2 UV Spectra
Avoid direct radiation of the skin and eyes under all circumstances!
The ultraviolet spectrum is divided into three sections:
UVA 315 nm – 380 nm
UVB 280 nm – 315 nm
UVC 100 nm – 280 nm
UVA
is a part of natural sunlight and it’s most visible effect on human tissue is the tan.
An overdose of UVA will cause a heat-erythema similar to visible light. Irradiation over a
longer period can evoke irreversible damages at the eyes.
UVB
is more aggressive than UVA, and also a very small part of natural sunlight. It has
the same negative effects on human tissue as natural sunlight, the most common being
the UV-erythema (sunburn).
UVC
is even more aggressive than UVB, it can cause severe tissue damage. The risk of
skin cancer is higher than at UVB.
The built-in filter glass 97303 absorbs UVB and UVC.
