5.10. Configuration Cloning (Backup Tab)

ConfigurationcloningofLightwareLW3devicesisasimplemethodthateliminatestheneedtorepeatedly

configurecertaindevicestohaveidentical(non-factory)settings.Ifthedevicesareinstalledinthesame

typeofsystemmultipletimesthenitisenoughtosetuponlyonedevicetofittheuser’sneedsandthencopy

those settings to the others, thus saving time and resources.

5.10.1.

Steps in a Nutshell

Installingmultipledeviceswiththesamecustomizedconfigurationsettingscanbedoneinafeweasysteps:

Step 1.

ConfigureonedevicewithallyourdesiredsettingsusingtheLDCsoftware.

Step 2.

Backupthefullconfigurationfiletoyourcomputer.

Step 3.

Ifneeded,makesomemodificationstotheconfigurationfileusingatexteditor(e.g.Notepad).E.g.

modifying the static IP address is necessary when DHCP is not used.

Step 4.

Connecttotheotherdevicewhichhastobeconfiguredandupload(restore)yourconfigurationfile.

Step 5.

Done! You can have as many totally identical, customized devices as you like.

ATTENTION!

Macroscannotbesavedintothebackupfile.IfyouhavemacrosstoredinaConfiguration

slot, download it separately and upload it in the target device.

Save the Settings of a Device (Backup)

Step 1.

Apply the desired settings in the device (port settings, parameters, etc.)

Select the

viewed(and/oredited)byasimpletexteditor,e.g.Notepad.
