3.7.3 View live ports
'Live' ports are all input and output ports discovered in the system. If system devices have been added/
deleted or reconfigured, touch the Refresh button to force a rediscovery of all live ports.
3.8 DMX-IN
3.8.1 Controlling DMX-IN
When DMX is present on input DMX-IN, a checkbox will show on the zones tab. When it is checked,
DMX-IN is the source for DMX-OUT for the selected area. This means DMX-IN will 'pass through'
to DMX channels in the area's DMX layout. Whenever there is a transition to DMX-IN being present,
the DMX-IN box will be checked. A station user may uncheck/check the DMX-IN box to switch
control between DMX-IN and the station itself.
For example, DMX output from a lighting console is connected to DMX-IN. When the lighting
console is 'on', the console is controlling lights in area Stage. When 'off', the station controls the same
lights in area Stage. While the console is 'on', the station user can take control of the Stage lights by
unchecking the DMX-IN box. This can also be undone by the station user, yielding control back to
the console. Or, the console user can cycle power or the DMX connection to retake control of the
lights (force the transition to DMX-IN being present at the station).
