6. Settings and functions
This chapter provides basic instructions on settings and functions that are nec-
essary for the vacuuming and sealing process.
6.1 Manual vacuuming and sealing
Especially for pressure-sensitive foods (such as bread, berries) or foods with
high liquid content, it is advantageous to regulate the strength of the vacuum-
ing process. The sealing of the bag can be initiated manually.
1. Set the selector switch (Fig. 2, No. 7) to .
2. Close the unit flap and press it shut until a until a bar display indication
is visible. The vacuuming process begins.
3. As soon as the desired vacuum is reached, initiate manual welding via
the button (Fig. 2, No. 8). The control lamp lights up during the welding
process.
4. Vent the vacuum chamber (Fig. 2, No. 4) and open the unit flap.
For more information on vacuum sealing moist and pressure-sensitive prod-
ucts, please refer to chapter 6.4, page 31.
6.2 Adjusting the sealing time
In all Lava vacuum sealers, the sealing time can be adjusted depending on the
type of bag used. This is important to ensure a perfect seal every time.
When using textured Lava vacuum bags or rolls with 90 μm (R-Vac, E-Vac), a
sealing time of 6 should be selected.
When using extra strong textured Lava vacuum bags or rolls with 160 μm (RS-
Vac, ES-Vac), a sealing time of 8 should be selected.
When using aluminum composite bags (I-Vac and K-Vac), a sealing time of 10
should be selected.
Tip
After vacuuming approximately 5 bags, the sealing strip heats up and
the sealing time can be reduced by 2 to 3 levels.
6.3 Liquid separator
The suction of liquids during the vacuuming of moist products must be avoided
at all costs. Suctioned liquids can damage the pump and components in the
device. If a small amount of liquid is accidentally suctioned, it is initially collect-
ed in the liquid separator through the connection for vacuuming containers,
preventing it from directly reaching the pump and components. This protects
the vacuum sealer in case of small amounts. Please regularly check the liquid
separator and remove any residues and liquids. Further instructions for vacu-
uming liquids can be found in chapter 7.4, page 36.
How do I dismantle the liquid separator?
1. Pull out the liquid separator. (This may be more difficult with new devices.)
2. Remove the lid by pulling on the lid plunger.
3. Empty the container and clean it with clear water. Then let it dry.
4. Close the lid (don’t forget the rubber seal!) and reinsert the liquid separator
into the vacuum sealer.
6.4 Pressure regulation L+
The Lava pressure regulation L+ allows for precise adjustment of vacuum
strength from -0.2 bar to maximum negative pressure. It is ideal for vacuuming
pressure-sensitive products such as bread, fresh berries, or smoked fish. The L+
pressure regulation can be easily retrofitted for the V.100 Premium X and can be
conveniently reordered from the Lava Shop.
1.
Turn the pressure regulation adjustment screw approximately 3 mm
outwards.
2. Set the selector switch to (Fig. 2, No. 7) and press the device cover
down normally.
3. By turning the adjustment screw clockwise or counterclockwise, the de-
sired vacuum can be generated.
4. When the desired vacuum is reached, start the welding process.
