If the present maximum reading is +20 kG and the instrument measures –35 kG,
the –35 kG becomes the new maximum reading.
If the minimum reading is –3.0 kG and the instrument measures –1.5 kG,
the –1.5 kG becomes the new minimum reading.

In Algebraic mode, the field values are compared mathematically with the sign included. The maximum reading is the
larger signed value since the last reset.
Example:
If the present maximum reading is –30 kG and the instrument me10 kG,
the +10 kG becomes the new maximum reading.
If the minimum reading is +3.0 kG and the instrument measures –15 kG,
the –15 kG becomes the new minimum reading.
