6.8  Summary of 
Internal Memory 
Devices

This section outlines the internal memory devices used inside the 
F71/F41 teslameter, and provides an explanation of the types of data they contain.

 1. The Atmel/Microchip ATSAME70Q21A is a microprocessor with 2048 KB of 

onboard programmable flash memory. The code is loaded by initiating a firm-
ware update over the remote interface.

 2. The Cypress FM24V10 is a 128 KB I2C FRAM. It is used to store calibration con-

stants and feature license files. The memory is programmed at Lake Shore.

 3. The Kingston EMMC04G-S100-A08U is a 4GB eMMC flash memory used to store 

the instrument operating system. It also contains the local firmware repository 
and app service, and instrument settings. Presently the instrument settings 
stored in this memory are not resettable in the field, but will be in a future firm-
ware update.

 4. The SK Hynix H5TC2G63GFR-PBA memories are comprised of four 256 MBDDR3L 

SRAM chips, totaling 1 GB of volatile memory. This memory is used by the operat-
ing system and applications during runtime as temporary data storage. Data is 
lost on a power cycle.

 5. The Microchip SST25VF016B-50-4C is a 16 Mbit SPI flash. It is used to store boot-

loader firmware. The memory is programmed at Lake Shore.

 6. The Cypress FM24V10 is a 128 KB I2C F-RAM. It is used on the field control option 

card to store the serial number and calibration information. The memory is pro-
grammed at Lake Shore.

 7. The 24LC1025T is a 1 Mb I2C EEPROM. It is used to store probe information, serial 

number, and calibration data. In the majority of cases this information is pro-
grammed by Lake Shore. However some customers may use modified or custom 
calibration curves.
