Use restrictions:
This footwear is not intended for use:
a) to provide protection against electric hazard, and dangerous voltage;
b) in high temperature environments, where the effects can be compared to the effect of air at a
temperature of 100°C or higher, and where infrared radiation, flames or large melted material
splashes may occur;
c) in low temperature environments, where the effects can be compared to the effect of air at a
temperature of -50°C or lower;
d) to provide limited protection against chemical hazards or ionizing radiation.
n
Storage and care:
Store the footwear in cardboard boxes in dry, well-ventilated places, away from sunlight and high
temperature. Do not squeeze or deform it during storage.
After each use or before you start maintenance, clean the footwear thoroughly using a soft cloth soaked
with a solution of lukewarm water and soap. Allow to dry at room temperature, optimally at a well-
ventilated place, away from any sources of heat. Once fully dried, start its maintenance.
Use leather footwear care agents to maintain it. Textile components should be maintained by using any
commercially available agents intended for this purpose.
Observe the instructions attached to the specific agent.
Maintenance should be performed at least once a month, and in the case of more intensive use, increase
the maintenance frequency.
n
Shelf life:
Correctly maintained, stored and transported footwear maintains its suitability for purpose for 5 years
from the date of manufacture. Date of manufacture is provided on each piece of footwear.
NOTE!
In case of any mechanical damage, abrasions, cracks, tears, the footwear loses its suitability for
purpose regardless of the time elapsed from the date of manufacture.
Dispose of the footwear by complying with applicable legal regulations after its use period is over.
n
Transport:
Transport the footwear in its original packaging, protect against sunlight and high temperature, do not
squeeze or deform.
n
Information regarding antistatic safety footwear:
It is recommended to use the antistatic footwear when it is necessary to reduce the risk of static charge
buildup, by carrying the charges away to exclude the danger of spark-induced ignition e.g. for flammable
substances and vapors, and when the electric shock caused by electric equipment or live components is
not completely excluded. Please note that antistatic footwear cannot provide sufficient protection
against electric shock, as it ensures only a certain level of electric resistance between your foot and the
ground. If the electric shock hazard is not eliminated completely, it is necessary to take further measures
to avoid the risk. It is recommended that those measures and the tests listed below become a part of each
program for preventing workplace accidents. It is recommended that the product electric resistance
providing desired antistatic effect is lower than 1000 MΩ. For new products the lower threshold electric
resistance is specified at 100 kΩ, which is necessary to provide limited protection against electric shock or
ignition in case of damage to the electric appliance with an operating voltage of up to 250 V. However, the
users should be aware that in certain conditions the footwear may not provide sufficient protection and
additional precautions should be taken to ensure full user protection.
The electric resistance of this footwear may change considerably as a result of folding, contamination or
moisture. The footwear does not fulfill its intended function in wet conditions. Therefore, it is necessary
to make every effort to make the footwear fulfill its intended functions of carrying the charges away
throughout its use life. Users are recommended to establish internal electric resistance testing procedure
and perform it on a regular and frequent basis.
Class I footwear can absorb moisture, if it is worn for extended periods, while in damp and wet
conditions, it may even turn into conducting footwear.
If the footwear is used in conditions where the sole material is subject to destruction, it is recommended
that the user always checks the footwear electric properties prior to entering a dangerous area. It is
recommended that in places where antistatic footwear is worn, the ground resistance could not cancel
the protection provided by the footwear.
It is recommended that during footwear use no insulating components, except for knitted sock products
were located between the undersole and user's foot. If any footwear liner is inserted in between the
undersole and foot, it is recommended to check the electric properties of the footwear/liner system.
n
Information about footwear protecting from electrostatic discharge:
Regardless of its antistatic properties, ESD-marked footwear conforms to requirements for equipment
protecting from electrostatic discharge. Electrostatic discharge is a sudden, momentary flow of electric
charge between objects, most often because of electrostatic build-up on one of them. This may cause
interference or damage to electronics. Protection against electrostatic build-up is necessary on many
stations in the electronics or automotive industry.
Areas with equipment particularly sensitive to electrostatic discharge are converted into ESD Protected
Areas or EPAs. Operators in such areas must wear ESD footwear.
The resistance of ESD footwear is
0,75MΩ – 35 MΩ
. It is specially labelled as ESD. It prevents the build-up
of static charge on the user's body or discharges static electricity to prevent contact damage to
equipment sensitive to ESD.
Before it is marketed, ESD footwear is tested under EN IEC 61340-4-3:2018
(
class 3 – climate class
)
.
The footwear has to be checked regularly, preferably worn as the resistance between the footwear and
human skin can sometimes be very high. The performance of ESD protection is determined by measuring
the resistance of the human/footwear/floor system. It should be below 35MΩ.
