Sliding Door
Sliding Door
Open the
ROBO Pro
software. Follow the directions below to complete the activity.
In this activity, you will construct your fischertechnik model, Sliding Door, and run the
ROBO Pro
control
program to start your model. Refer to the illustrations on the following pages as you construct this model.
Start building with the black base unit and add the blocks to it as shown in the illustration. The
1.
number in front of the “x” is the quantity of that item used in this step. The red horseshoe shaped
pieces are for holding the wires in place. The controls and sensors used in the fischertechnik
system have wires with small plugs on the ends to connect to the interface.
Assemble the lens tip lamp onto a block and the three switches into their locations as shown in the
2.
illustration.
Assemble the door parts and gear track onto the bottom of the door as shown in the illustration.
3.
Assemble the motor and door supports as shown in the illustration. The red block shown slides into
4.
the back of the motor and locks it in place. Leave it out for now until instructed to do so later.
Assemble the gear unit and then slide it onto the motor. To complete this operation, slide the motor
5.
back a little and then slide the gear unit onto the front of the motor as shown in the illustration.
After mounting the door top support, slide the door to the full closed position. Then slide the motor/
gear unit up to the gear track on the bottom of the door until the teeth of both mesh together. When
in position, you can lock the motor in place with the red block you were asked not to install in the
previous step. Look at the balloon illustration in Step 7 over the gear unit for help.
Insert the interface onto the four corner mounting blocks and connect the wiring to the interface unit
6.
as shown in the circuit diagram illustration. Next to each red and green wire are the approximate
lengths in metric and standard units. Pay attention to the color location of each red and green
connector on the device and on the interface.
Make sure you’ve made all the plug connections on the interface (including power). Place the wires
7.
in the red clips as described before running them in the most direct route to the interface. Feel free
to route the wires in a direction that is more convenient if your wires are shorter because of repairs.
Just make sure they are making the same electrical connection needed.
