5 – Operation
Operation Recommendations
1. Only qualified operators should operate this equipment.
2. Operation of the SMX Conveyor and Atomizer can only be controlled through AutoTreat or
BasicTreat automation. See the applicable Automation manual for operating the SC Applicator
through your automation system, either in hand or in auto.
3. For most crop types, the optimal angle for the SMX conveyor to operate at is 28 degrees.
Emergency Shutdown
1. The equipment can be shut down in an emergency situation a few different ways, depending on the
severity of the situation.
a. Turn equipment off via the AutoTreat controls system.
b. Press Emergency Stop on the main KSi electrical panel.
c. Turn the atomizer disconnect switch that is mounted to the Applicator frame to the off
position.
Disassembly and Reassembly
1. If any part of the equipment has been disassembled for any reason such as cleaning, be sure that
all components have been reassembled fully and correctly. Do not operate the equipment without all
guards in place.
2. If the Atomizer lower housing was disconnected for cleaning, ensure that it is again fully secured with
all three clamps before starting or operating the equipment.
3. When reassembling the SMX Conveyor mixing baffle lids, be sure that the lids are in the correct
order, and are oriented to match the number stickers on the door assemblies.
SMX Conveyor Mixing Baffles
1. The SMX Conveyor is setup with multiple sets of mixing baffles that are intended to reach down into
the flow of seed and create turbulence / mixing.
2. For best mixing results, adjust the depth of these mixing baffles so that the space between the belt
and mixing baffle roughly equals the space needed for one layer of seed.
3. When reassembling the mixing baffle doors back onto the conveyor make sure that the numbers on
both the conveyor and the door are aligned to ensure that the correct door is installed in the correct
location and with the correct orientation.
