7.4.6.2 Removing a standardised mechanical seal
ü The notes and steps stated in ( ð Section 7.4.1, Page 51) to
( ð Section 7.4.5, Page 53) have been observed/carried out.
ü The back pull-out unit is kept in a clean and level assembly area.
1. Remove shaft sleeve 523 with the rotating ring of the mechanical seal (primary
ring) from shaft 210.
2. Undo nuts 920.04 at casing cover 161.
3. Remove casing cover 161 from bearing bracket 330.
4. Undo nuts 920.02, remove seal cover 471.01.
5. Remove the stationary ring of the mechanical seal from seal cover 471.01.
6. Remove and dispose of gasket 400.04.
7.4.6.3 Dismantling the gland packing
ü The notes and steps stated in ( ð Section 7.4.1, Page 51) to
( ð Section 7.4.5, Page 53) have been observed/carried out.
ü The back pull-out unit is kept in a clean and level assembly area.
1. Undo hexagon nuts 920.02 at gland follower 452.01 and remove the gland
follower.
2. Remove stuffing box ring 454.01.
3. Remove casing cover 161 with gland packing 461.01.
4. Remove packing rings 461.01 and lantern ring 458.01, if any, from the packing
chamber.
5. Pull shaft protecting sleeve 524 and thrower 507 off shaft 210.
7.4.7 Dismantling the bearings
Oil lubrication
ü The notes and steps stated in ( ð Section 7.4.1, Page 51) to
( ð Section 7.4.6, Page 54) have been observed/carried out.
ü The bearing bracket has been placed on a clean and level surface.
1. Unscrew the hexagon socket head cap screw in the coupling hub.
2. Pull the coupling hub off pump shaft 210 with a puller.
3. Remove key 940.02.
4. Pull off thrower 507.
5. Undo and remove hexagon head bolts 901.01/.02.
6. Remove bearing covers 360.01/.02 with lip seals 421.01/.02 at the pump and
drive end.
7. Remove gaskets 400.01/.02.
8. Press shaft 210 out of the shaft seat.
9. Place radial ball bearings 321.01/.02 on a clean and level surface.
10. Remove rings 550.08/.09.
11. Dispose of gaskets 400.01/.02.
Grease lubrication

1. Unscrew the hexagon socket head cap screw in the coupling hub.
2. Pull the coupling hub off pump shaft 210 with a puller.
