ü The steps stated in ( ð Section 7.5.1, Page 56) to ( ð Section 7.5.2, Page 57) have
been observed/carried out.
ü The bearing assembly/gland packing as well as the individual parts are kept in a
clean and level assembly area.
ü All disassembled parts have been cleaned and checked for wear.
ü Any damaged or worn parts have been replaced by original spare parts.
ü
The sealing surfaces have been cleaned.
1. Clean the packing chamber.
2. Insert packing ring 461.01 into the packing chamber of discharge cover 161.
3. Use stuffing box ring 454.01 to push home packing ring 461.01.
Insert lantern ring 458.01, if any (see drawing above).
Insert each subsequent packing ring into the packing chamber with its joint
offset by approximately 90° in relation to the previous one. Use stuffing box
ring 454.01 to push each packing ring separately into the packing chamber.
4. Place gland follower 452.01 on studs 902.02. Tighten the studs gently and evenly
with hexagon nuts 920.02, so that packing rings 461.01 are not compressed yet.
5. Use a feeler gauge to verify that gland follower 452.01 is fitted centred and at a
right angle to the shaft.
6. Tighten gland follower 452.01 lightly and evenly.
The rotor must be easy to rotate.

1. Clean the packing chamber.
2. Insert pure graphite packing ring 461.01.
3. Use stuffing box ring 454.01 to push home pure graphite packing ring 461.01.
There must be a visible gap between shaft protecting sleeve 524 and the
packing rings.
Insert each subsequent pure graphite packing ring 461.01 into the packing
chamber with its joint offset by approximately 90° in relation to the previous
one. Use stuffing box ring 454.01 to push each packing ring separately into the
packing chamber.
The pure graphite packing rings 461.01 must always fit snugly in the stuffing
box.
4. Place gland follower 452.01 on studs 902.02. Tighten it lightly and evenly with
hexagon nuts 920.02.
5. Use a feeler gauge to verify that gland follower 452.01 is fitted centred and at a
right angle to the shaft.
6. Tighten gland follower 452.01 lightly and evenly.
The rotor must be easy to rotate.
