Calibration Programs
Introduction
This appendix includes a calibration program written in BASIC to help you calibrate the
Model 2430, as well as an example program that demonstrates how to request calibration con-
stants. Refer to Section 2 for more details on calibration procedures, equipment, and connec-
tions. Appendix B covers calibration commands in detail.
Computer hardware requirements
The following computer hardware is required to run the calibration programs:
•
IBM PC compatible computer.
•
Keithley KPC-488.2, KPS-488.2, or KPC-488.2AT, or CEC PC-488 IEEE-488 inter-
face for the computer.
•
Two shielded IEEE-488 connecting cables (Keithley Model 7007).
Software requirements
In order to use the calibration programs, you will need the following computer software:
•
Microsoft QBasic (supplied with MS-DOS 5.0 or later).
•
MS-DOS version 5.0 or later.
•
HP-style Universal Language Driver, CECHP.EXE (supplied with Keithley and CEC
interface cards listed above).
Calibration equipment
The following calibration equipment is required:
•
Hewlett-Packard HP3458A Digital Multimeter
•

, ±0.1%, 100W resistor

General program instructions
1.
With the power off, connect the Model 2430 and the digital multimeter to the IEEE-488
interface of the computer. Be sure to use shielded IEEE-488 cables for bus connections.
2.
Turn on the computer, the Model 2430, and the digital multimeter. Allow the Model
2430 and the multimeter to warm up for at least one hour before performing calibration.
3.
Make sure the Model 2430 is set for a primary address of 24. (Use the front panel
MENU/GPIB selection to check or change the address.)
