about the RS-422-A interface

The A terminal of the generator shall be negative with respect to the B 
terminal for a binary 1 (MARK or OFF) state. 

z

 

The A terminal of the generator shall be positive with respect to the B 
terminal for a binary 0 (SPACE or ON) state. 

To identify the lines, the voltage between the lines A and B can be meas-
ured by means of a voltameter.
