6.5 GENERATOR BYPASS OPERATION
The
Dual Failsafe Bypass
is designed to provide the ability to connect an alternate power source (
generato
r)
with separate controlled switching. This allows the
alternate
power source (generator) to be selected manually
or, when AUTO is used, automatically when the alternate source is connected.
This Hot Swap Bypass is in fact
a DUAL-SWITCH.
As in the Standard Hot Swap Bypass, LED indicators provide status of the UPS /Line/Generator
operation.
The UPS Section
operates as a standard
Failsafe Bypass
. The UPS switch when selected to the
Auto
position, allows the UPS to operate in the circuit at all times. If the Bypass is selected, then the UPS will no
longer be in the circuit and utility power will go directly to the load.
Generator Section.
The generator section controls the source of alternate power being directed to the UPS.
In the
Auto Position
, the alternate source of power is automatically selected.
If there is Utility power present and generator power is applied,
the Utility power
will
always be used
,
the switch will not transfer to generator.
During a power failure, the UPS will operate on Battery, if a generator is connected, the switch will
recognize the generator power and use this source to power the UPS.
If the selection button is placed in the
BYPASS
position, the generator will not be selected. The UPS
will continue to operate on battery power.
IN NORMAL OPERATION, THE SELECTION BUTTONS ARE
ALWAYS
IN THE AUTO POSITION.
THE FAILSAFE BYPASS WITH GENERATOR WILL
ALWAYS
SELECT THE LINE (utility) WHEN IT IS
PRESENT, THIS IS CALLED (LATCHING TO LINE).
THIS FEATURE CANNOT BE CHANGED !!!.
