1. INTRODUCTION
We thank you for your confidence in this KASTOR product. KASTOR heaters are known for their exceptional
quality and long service life. We suggest that you – and the person installing this heater – read these
instructions carefully. This manual should always be close at hand when needed. Once the installation is
completed, this manual should be handed to the sauna's owner or the person responsible for operating it.
Before you do anything, you should read this manual and pay special attention to the “WARNINGS”
section on page 12.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1. Installation and safety distances
Always comply with the safety distances specified by the manufacturer for installation (
Table 4
). These
distances are also indicated on the heater nameplate. The walls next to the heater and the roof above it must
not be covered with additional panelling, as the temperature in the wall material may rise to dangerous levels.
Leave enough free space in front of the heater for servicing and maintenance.
The heater is installed on the floor through the rear foot fixing plate. Use two screws (wood) or rawl plugs
(stone) depending on the floor material.
2.2. Connection to the mains
The heater must be installed by a qualified electrician. Check the heater's technical data from the table prior to
connection. The connection to the mains may only be performed by a professional electrician who is certified
according to current regulations.
The power cable should be a H07RN-F (VSN, VSB) rubber cable or equivalent. Do not use PVC-insulated
cables. The wiring diagram is included this manual (
Fig. 5
) and printed on the heater junction box. The wall-
mounted splash proof junction box may not be placed higher than 50 cm from the floor.
The heater relay box (RB 45) supplied with the 12.5 kW and 15 kW heaters is mounted either outside the
sauna or inside at a minimum distance of 0.5 metres from the heater.
Do not attach the heater's power supply cable to a ground fault interrupter.
2.3. Sensor mounting and installation on the wall
Mount the sensor to the sauna wall on the heater's centre line. If you wish to heat the sauna to higher-than-
normal temperatures, the sensor may be moved to one side as shown in Table 1. Deviations from the specified
measurements will pose a risk of fire.
There are two optional ways of mounting the sensor on the wall. For surface mounting, the sensor cover is
fixed to the wall of the sauna (
Fig. 1A
). Then the sensor is attached to the cover, and the strain reliefs at the
lower end of the cover are raised up. Finally, the strain reliefs are bent around the cable and the wings of the
cover around the sensor (
Fig. 1B
). In recess mounting, the sensor can be fixed directly to the wall (
Fig. 1C
).
2.4. Connection of a separate CC control panel
The control panel can be installed at any distance from the heater. For the control cable, use a 6-wire
(0,25mm
2
) low voltage cable that is connected to the heater circuit board as shown in the wiring diagram. The
numbering of the circuit board and CC control panel terminal blocks match. The cable from the sensor is
connected to terminals 17 and 18 on the CC panel. Additionally, a connection can be made to transmit a signal
to the floor heating system or the indicator lamp indicating that the heating elements are on. The component
(12VDC) is connected between terminals 19 and 21. For more instructions, see the control panel manual.
2.5. Installation of the soapstone mantle (for Stone models)
Separate assembly instructions are supplied with the mantle. Before starting to assemble it, check that all the
slabs are intact. Start the assembly as close to the heater as possible. Stand up two adjacent legs in a vertical
position on the floor. Then insert the shorter slab in position between the legs. Next, install the third leg in the
same way as the two previous legs. Place the soapstone mantle around the heater. Then insert the low slab
above the heater terminal box in position. Place the soapstone mantle around the heater. Then insert the low
