4. Push in Valve Control knob slightly and turn
clockwise to “OFF”.
NOTE: Knob cannot be turned from “PILOT” to
“OFF” unless the knob is pushed in slightly. Do
not force.
5. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas. If you
then smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in the safety
information above on this page. If you do not
smell gas, go to the next step.
1. Place BURNER switch in” OFF” position. The
pilot will remain lit for normal service.

TO TURN OFF GAS TO THE APPLIANCE:

IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY, A FIRE OR EXPLOSION MAY RESULT
CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR LOSS OF LIFE.
A. This appliance has a pilot which must be lit
by hand. When lighting the pilot, follow these
instructions exactly.
B. BEFORE LIGHTING, smell all around the
appliance area for gas. Be sure to smell next
to the floor because some gas is heavier than
air and will settle to the floor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:
• Extinguish any open flame.
• Open windows.
• Do not light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electrical switches.
• Do not use any phone in your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a
neighbor’s phone.
• If your gas supplier cannot be reached, call the
fire department.
C. Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas
control knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not
push in or turn by hand, do not try to repair it.
Call a qualified technician. Force or attempted
repair may result in a fire or explosion.
D. Do not use this appliance if any part has been
under water. Immediately call a qualified service
technician to inspect the appliance and to
replace any part of the control system and any
gas control which has been under water.
1. STOP! Read the safety information above.
2. Set the BURNER ON/OFF switch to “OFF”, or set the
thermostat to lowest setting (if used).
3. Confirm that the gas supply line shut-off valve is
open.
Pilot Assembly
6. Push in Valve Control knob slightly and turn
counter-clockwise to “PILOT”.
7. Push in control knob all the way and hold in.
Immediately light the pilot by triggering the
spark ignitor (push the red button repeatedly)
until pilot lights. Continue to hold the control
knob in for about
one minute after the
pilot lights. Release
knob and it should
spring back. The pilot
should remain lit. If
it goes out, repeat
Steps 5 through 7.
• If knob does not
return when released, stop and immediately
call your service technician or gas supplier.
• If pilot will not stay lit after several tries, turn
the control knob to OFF and call your service
technician or gas supplier.
8. Turn Valve Control knob counter-clockwise
to “ON”.
9. Set the BURNER switch to “ON”, or set
thermostat (if used) to desired temperature.

2. For complete shutdown, depress the Valve Control
Knob and turn clockwise to “OFF”. Do not force.
