Surge Count
This is the total number of surge events that have been
detected over the lifetime of the chiller. These are the
surge events detected by the Surge Protection feature.
The surge events detected by the compressor VSD adap-
tive capacity control board are not included in this total.
Surge Detected (LED)
Illuminated for 5 seconds each time a surge is detected
by the “Surge Protection” feature. This LED does not
illuminate in response to surge events detected by the
VSD adaptive capacity control board.
Hot Gas Bypass Control Mode
Indicates whether the hot gas bypass is under automat-
ic, manual or override control. “Override” is displayed
during minimum load override conditions or when the
compressor motor variable speed drive (as equipped) is
running at less than maximum speed.
PROGRAMMABLE
Close Percentage
Access Level Required: SERVICE
This is the amount the hot gas valve will close at 10
mintue increments after the programmed hold period
has elapsed. This value is adjustable from 5 to 15%,
5% is the default setting. Service technicians refer to

Hold Period
Access Level Required: SERVICE
The hold period is the amount of time after surges are
no longer detected that the hot gas valve will begin
to close. This value is adjustable in one minute incre-
ments from 30 to 120 minutes. The default setting is
30 minutes. Service technicians refer to the

Surge Sensitivity
Access Level Required: SERVICE
This setting is used to adjust the sensitivity of the con-
trol center surge detection. The smaller the value, the
more sensitive the control center is to detecting surges.
This value is adjustable to tenths (0.1) from 0.3 to 1.3.
Three tenths (0.3) is the default setting. Service tech-

Minimum Load
Access Level Required: SERVICE
The minimum load setting is the temperature offset be-
low the leaving chilled liquid temperature at which the
hot gas bypass valve will open. The setting is adjust-
able from 0°F to 4°F, with 0°F as the default setting.
Minimum load is disabled when 0°F is entered. Service

[Hot Gas Bypass Control] Open (Manual)
Access Level Required: SERVICE
This key puts the hot gas bypass control in manual
mode and increases the valve position by 5%.
[Hot Gas Bypass Control] Close (Manual)
Access Level Required: SERVICE
This key puts the hot gas bypass control in manual
mode and decreases the valve position by 5%.
[Hot Gas Bypass Control] Auto
Access Level Required: SERVICE
Returns the hot gas bypass control to automatic mode.
Clear Surge Count
Access Level Required: SERVICE
This key clears and returns the surge count window to
zero.
