Assembly Instructions for O-Ring Face Seal (ORFS)
Fittings
1.
Ensure proper O-ring is installed. If O-ring is missing
install per O-ring Installation (Replacement).
2.
Ensure surface is smooth, free of rust, weld and brazing
splatter, splits, dirt, foreign matter, or burrs. If necessary
replace fitting or adapter.
CARE TO BE TAKEN WHEN LUBRICATING O-RING. AVOID ADDING OIL TO THE
THREADED CONNECTION OF THE FITTING. THE LUBRICATION WOULD CAUSE
INCREASED CLAMPING FORCE AND CAUSE FITTING DAMAGE.
3.
Pre-lubricate the O-ring with Hydraulic Oil.
4.
Place the tube assembly against the fitting body so that
the flat face comes in contact with the O-ring. Hand
thread the nut onto the fitting body.
5.
Torque nut to value listed in Table 5-7, O-ring Face Seal
(ORFS) - Steel or Table 5-8, O-ring Face Seal (ORFS) - Alu-
minum/Brass while using the Double Wrench Method.
Refer to FFWR and TFFT Methods for procedure require-
ments if using the FFWR method.
NOTE:
Torque values provided in Table 5-7, O-ring Face Seal
(ORFS) - Steel and Table 5-8, O-ring Face Seal (ORFS) - Alu-
minum/Brass are segregated based on the material config-
uration of the connection.
’ALUMINUM/BRASS FITTINGS OR ALUMINUM/BRASS
MATING COMPONENTS’ indicate either the following
material configurations:
a.
STEEL fittings with ALUMINUM or BRASS mating
components.
b.
ALUMINUM or BRASS fittings with STEEL mating
components.
c.
ALUMINUM or BRASS fittings with ALUMINUM or
BRASS mating components.
