Specifying test configuration settings
Before you begin testing, make sure the test settings on the ADSL/Copper
Tester match the settings of the line and network configuration you are testing.
The procedures in this section describe how to specify settings for a test
configuration.
Specifying WAN settings
The following procedure describes how to specify settings that characterize the
wide area network (WAN) interface you are testing. The WAN interface is the
DSL connection to tip and ring.
To specify WAN settings
1 Select MODEM TEST from the Main Menu.
2 Select SETUP .
3 Select WAN SETUP .
4 Select whether to enable or disable the INTERFACE .
The default is ENABLE.
5 Select the MODULATION .
Selecting the modulation (framing type) forces the ATU-R to negotiate only
the selected framing mode.
The following modulations are available:
– ADSL2+
– ADSL2+ DELT (Double Ended Loop Testing)
– ADSL2
– ADSL2 DELT
– G.DMT
– G.Lite
– T1.413
– AUTO
6 Select the WAN MODE .
– IPoE is IP over Ethernet
– IPoA is IP over ATM
– PPPoA is PPP over ATM
– PPPoE is PPP over Ethernet
– Bridge - the ADSL/Copper Tester acts as a layer two bridging device
between the WAN and LAN (no routing).
7 Enter the VPI and VCI .
8 Select the ENCAP (encapsulation) method.
The remaining selections are optional depending on the WAN mode.
9 Select whether the WAN IP configuration is static or dynamic (DHCP).
10 If you are using a static configuration, enter the WAN IP address and WAN
NETMASK
11 Enter the Gateway IP address.
