FTP testing

The Web Test runs automatically and displays connection status, bytes, time,
and rate.
For more information on the results, see Chapter 7 “Interpreting Test Results” .
FTP testing
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used to transfer a file across a network and
measure the transfer time. It is an effective way to evaluate IP-based network
performance using a method many customers also use.
This procedure involves two main steps:
– configure the FTP test settings
– run the test
To run a FTP test
1 If you haven’t already done so, do the following:
a If the tester is not on, press the Power key to turn it on.
b Connect a cable from the line to the DSL jack on the right side of the
ADSL/Copper Tester.
c Wait for the modems to sync. After synchronization, proceed to step 2 .
2 Specify the settings on the FTP SETUP menu.

3 View the test results.

c Select FTP .
FTP will start automatically and display the destination address, connec-
tion status, download file size, download time and rate.

You must have the advanced IP option installed to use this feature.
