11.2.9 RIFLING OR TRAMLINING
NOTE:
Arrow indicates direction of travel.
Rifling or tramlining is a pattern of varying cutting
heights, resulting in a wave-like cut appearance,
usually due to heavy contact points across a reel and/
or bedknife.
11.2.10 MISMATCHED CUTTING UNITS
NOTE:

Mismatched cutting units is a pattern of varying
cutting heights, resulting in a stepped cut
appearance, usually due to mismatched HOC
(height-of-cut) adjustment from one cutting unit to
another.
Probable Cause Remedy
Reel and/or bedknife unevenly w orn.
Inspect bedknife and reel. Sharpen or replace reel
and bedknife as necessary.
M issing, loose, or over torqued
bedknife screw s.
Install, replace or tighten bedknife screw s to proper
torque setting.
M ow ing (ground) speed is too fast. Reduce mow ing (ground) speed.
