battery

avoid
explo
-sion hazard.

The cathode cable (
×
) shall not
be connected to the cathode
terminal of the discharged battery.
Electric sparks may ignite explos
-ive gases escaped from the bat
-tery.
Start the engine in the procedures
described in the chapter "Engine Start".
If the engine fails to start in 10s, stop
starting it. Re-start the engine in about
30s.
Switch on the fan and rear windshield
heater of the vehicle equipped with an
auxiliary battery. Reduce the peak
voltage produced
when
removing
cables.
Turn off vehicle headlamps. The peak
voltage produced when removing
cables may burn the headlamps.
If the engine begins to run, remove
two cables in reverse procedures.

Never try to charge a frozen
battery, in order to avoid explos
-ion
hazard.
Even
for
the
de-frozen battery, the acid may
overflow, thus causing corrosive
hazard.
○
Replace the frozen battery.
○
Do not connect the cathode
terminal to fuel or brake lines via
a clamp.
○
Metal-exposed terminals shall
not contact each other. To avoid
short-circuit hazard, do not keep
the jumper cable connected to
the
battery
anode
terminal
contact with conductive parts.
○
Never contact the jumper cable
with the engine moving parts.
Never bend over the battery to
