Fuel filter
1. Slacken the outlet union on the fuel fil-
ter.

2. Operate the hand priming lever (1 Fig.
16) on the fuel lift pump until fuel, free
of air bubbles, issues from the union,
then retighten the union.
NOTE
If the drive cam of the fuel lift pump
is at maximum lift, it will not be possible
to operate the priming lever. In this situ-
ation, the crankshaft must be turned one
revolution.
Fuel injection pump (Fig.17)
3. Slacken the lower vent plug (1 Fig. 17)
on the fuel injection pump and oper-
ate the fuel lift pump until fuel, free of
air bubbles issues from the vent, then
retighten the vent plug.
4. Slacken the upper vent plug (2 Fig. 17)
on the fuel injection pump and oper-
ate the fuel lift pump until fuel, free of
air bubbles, issues from the vent, then
retighten the vent plug.

Fuel injectors and thermostart
5. Slacken the unions at numbers one and
three fuel injector (Fig. 18).
6. Slacken the thermostart fuel feed pipe
(2 Fig.16) at the thermostart and oper-
ate the fuel lift pump until fuel, free of
air bubbles, issues from the pipe, then
retighten the pipe.
7. Set the throttle fully open and ensure
that the fuel cut-off control is pushed
fully in, then turn the engine over with
the starter, until fuel, free of air,
comes from the pipe connections.
8. Retighten the injector unions.
9. The engine is then ready to start.

Service the fuel injectors every
1000 hours.
1. Clean the area around the injectors.
2. Remove the fuel leak-off pipe.
3. Disconnect the high pressure pipes
