NOTE: The two (2) plug buttons will be used in
the ends of the seat extension tube.
3. Install the two (2) seat extension tubes into the
ends on the crossbraces.
4. Line up the
second
mounting hole from the
rear
of the seat extension tube with the mounting hole
in the crossbrace. Repeat for opposite seat ex-
tension tube.
5. Install the
NEW
seat upholstery onto the wheel-
chair. Make sure to line up the mounting holes
in the seat extension tubes with the
NEW
seat
upholstery. Refer to
REPLACING THE SEAT
UPHOLSTERY
in this section of the manual.
6. Install plug buttons into the ends of the seat ex-
tension tubes.
ADJUSTING THE SEAT WIDTH
WARNING
Adjusting the seat width of the 9000XT Re-
cliner MUST be performed by an authorized
Invacare dealer or qualified technician.
STORING/REPLACING THE SPREADER
BAR
Storing (FIGURE 6)
NOTE: The 9000XT RECLINER is folded for ei-
ther storage or transporting. One side of the
spreader bar must be removed and placed in a
vertical position along side the recliner tube.
REMOVING FROM THE STORED POSITION.
1. Rotate the end of the spreader bar 90
o
toward
the opposite side frame.
2. Install threaded end of locking knob into locknut
located on the opposite side frame. Securely
tighten both knobs.
PLACING IN THE STORED POSITION.
1. Unthread one (1) locking knob from the side
frame.
2. Rotate detached end of the spreader bar 90
o
down toward floor.
NOTE: This illustration depicts the 1-inch seat
extension. The 2-inch seat extension attaches
in the same manner.

1. Remove the existing seat upholstery from the
crossbraces. Refer to
REPLACING THE SEAT
UPHOLSTERY
in
PROCEDURE 6
of this manual.
NOTE: When adjusting the seat depth of the
wheelchair, the seat upholstery MUST be
changed as well.
2. Remove the two (2) plug buttons from the ends
of the crossbraces that are towards the front of
the wheelchair.
NOTE: Do not use back mounting hole. If back
mounting hole is used, the mounting hole for
the other mounting screw will not line up prop-
erly.
