This configuration is recommended if you have a router
and would like to set up the MTA 3328-2R while
allowing multiple PCs to access your broadband
connection. The diagram below displays an example of
this configuration.
Recommended Configuration with an External Router
IMPORTANT: If your router is
configured to use static IP addressing,
PPPoE, or MAC address cloning, you
must re-set it to use DHCP before
beginning the installation. Refer to the
router’s User’s Guide for instructions.
To set up the MTA 3328-2R with more than one PC
using the recommended configuration:
1. Turn off your PC, and unplug the cable
modem and router.
IMPORTANT: Do not plug in the MTA
3328-2R’s power cord until instructed to
do so.
2. Using the standard Ethernet network cable
(RJ-45) included with the device, connect the
LAN
port on the back of the MTA 3328-2R to
the router.
