Cleaning optical connectors
In a fiber cable, optical signals are passed through 10-
µ
m core glass fibers. A part which secures glass fibers in a fiber connector
is called a Ferrule. A dirty Ferrule causes transmission loss.
How to clean Ferrules is explained below.
Clean the four sections: Receptacle on the camera head (male), receptacle on the BS (female), and plugs on both ends of the
cable (female and male). The cleaning method for male connectors slightly differs that for female connectors. There is no
difference between receptacles and plugs in the cleaning method.
Screw: Hole only for male connectors
