5 – FUNCTIONS – VERIFICATIONS - COMMISSIONING
5.1. PRELIMINARY VERIFICATIONS
Generality
These verifications are intended to check that the equipment did not suffer damage during
transportation or storage, and prove proper operation with the set values.
The complete relay will be checked complete as possible : detachable part (electronic module) +
basic case (current and voltage transformers), with the cell test plugs. If this proves is impossible, a
test of the electronic case can be performed on a table (see Maintenance chapter).
Before commissioning, it is important to check that :
The connection direction of the current and voltage transformers is correct. On the
connection diagrams, the points indicated near the transformers represent the direction of
the flow of current.
The relay is locked (rear knurled screw).
The 18-pin female rear connectors are actually plugged in on the relay and screwed.
The rear socket, DB9 type, is well plugged in and screwed if the relay is placed in a
communication loop.
Caution :
Do not permanently inject more than 4 IN or 2 INo and 20 IN or 10 INo during 10s so as not to
overload the current transformers during the tests. The contact of the relay under test will
preferably cut off the injection case automatically.
Relay energization
The relay performs the following sequences on auxiliary power supply application :
- microdiagnostic running,
- initialisation period,
- display setting to thermal state measurement.
The watchdog relay W associated with the self-monitoring system is operational at the end of the
microdiagnostics (contact W1 open).
Relay parameter setting
After calculation of the settings of the various protection functions by taking into account of the,
motor, reducers, switching device and wiring characteristics, or thanks to
PROSETTING
software,
proceed according to the methods developed in the following paragraphs.
First, the language must be configured, followed by determination of all the
RATED VALUES
(nominal voltages, nominal currents, nominal frequency, CTs adjustment (coefficient K) … ; then
determine the various
PARAMETERS
of table 1, possibly table 2, and lastly set parameters for the
password, if any, and the values required for the communication if used.
