how
to
install,
add,
and
remove
DIMMS.
It
includes
information
about
Active
Memory
and
Memory
Mirroring.
Before
preforming
any
of
the
procedures
in
this
section,
read
the
and
Your
xSeries
440
server
supports
up
to
sixteen
3.3
V,
168
pin,
133
MHZ
ECC
SDRAM
DIMMs
in
each
SMP
Expansion
Module.
With
both
SMP
Expansion
Modules
installed,
the
server
can
support
a
maximum
of
32
SDRAM
DIMMS
for
a
total
of
32
GB
of
memory
in
the
server.
Notes:
1.
DIMMs
can
be
removed
and
replaced
through
the
access
doors
on
the
top
of
the
SMP
Expansion
Module.

considerations
Before
installing
DIMMs,
read
the
following
information:
v
Your
xSeries
440
server
supports
512
MB
and
1
GB
DIMMs,
for
a
maximum
of
32
GB
of
system
memory
depending
on
your
configuration.
See
the
ServerProven
list
at
for
a
list
of
memory
modules
you
can
use
with
the
server.

The
server
comes
with
four
512
MB
DIMMs
installed
in
slots
1,
3,
5,
and
7
in
the
SMP
Expansion
Module.
When
installing
additional
memory
modules,
you
must
install
four
DIMMS
at
a
time
and
in
the
order
described
to
maintain
performance.

the

for
memory

locations.)
