Chapter 1. Start Service
1-35
BF
The drive detected a drive canister fan fault.
Drive canister problem. See “Replacing a Tape Drive
Canister or FC 1663 Tape Drive Removal” on page 9-11.
C1
The drive detected that an input voltage is out
of range, a power supply has failed, or a
power supply cooling fan has failed.
• Verify that library power is getting to the drive sled (drive
LEDs are ON and the fan is turning). If power is missing
from the drive, see “Replacing a Power Supply Unit” on
page 9-7.
• If power is OK, this is a drive canister problem. See
“Replacing a Tape Drive Canister or FC 1663 Tape Drive
Removal” on page 9-11.
D8
The drive detected degraded drive hardware.
The drive will continue to operate, but with
degraded performance.
Drive canister problem. See “Replacing a Tape Drive
Canister or FC 1663 Tape Drive Removal” on page 9-11.
E4
The drive detected a drive electronics fault.
Drive canister problem. See “Replacing a Tape Drive
Canister or FC 1663 Tape Drive Removal” on page 9-11.
E5
The drive detected a drive microcode fault.
• Firmware problem. See “Methods of Updating Firmware”
• Drive canister problem. See “Replacing a Tape Drive
Canister or FC 1663 Tape Drive Removal” on page 9-11.
E6
The drive detected a timing problem in the
drive microcode or drive electronics.
• Try reloading the drive microcode. See “Methods of
Updating Firmware” on page 7-20.
• Report to your next level of support.
ED
The drive detected that a drive dump has
been written to flash memory.
Status message that a dump is in flash memory. To offload a
dump to flash or clearing flash dump memory, see
“Downloading Drive Logs” on page 7-16.
F2
The drive detected a drive hardware or media
fault.
See FID 86 in this table.
F4
The drive detected a problem with the RS-232
library to drive interface.
• Reseat the drive canister.
• If the problem persists, offload a microcode dump and
contact your next level of support.
F5
The drive detected a problem with the Fibre
Channel host interface.
Host interface, operational procedure, or host problem.
F6
The drive reported an informational message
- drive cleaning is required.
Host interface, operational procedure, or host problem.
F7
The Fibre Wrap Test failed.
(Probability 90% drive canister, 10% Fibre
channel cable)
If you were running the Fibre Wrap Test, check the following
before you replace the drive canister.
1.
If you were running the Fibre Wrap Test at the drive
itself, ensure that the wrap tool is making a good
connection or try a different wrap tool. Rerun the test to
ensure that the drive canister is at fault.
2.
If you were running the Fibre Wrap Test through the
Fibre cable, try the Fibre Wrap Test at the drive. It the test
runs without error at the drive, replace the cable. If the
test still generates FID F7, replace the drive canister.
FE
The drive detected a cartridge/media
problem.
See FID 87 in this table.
FF
The drive reported an informational or
non-hardware status or error.
Operational procedure or host problem.
