Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
When I start the software I get the following error message:
Error 37 initializing COM port
Device not found
Answer 1:
Maybe you have your chip card reader connected to the serial port which is configured for
serial communication to the instrument. If you confirm by clicking O.K. you can use all functions of the
software except those which are using the serial port. You could consider to move the card reader to a
different port for avoiding the message.
Answer 2:
Maybe a 3
rd
party software is using the serial port of your PC. Stop this software or
configure a different port to be used.
Question:
Can I use a card reader from an other manufacturer?
Answer:
The Record Control Software uses drivers for the card reader which are instrument specific. Therefore
it is not possible to use other card readers presently.
Question:
On my SiViB the red LED „Card Error“ is on, even without a card plugged in.
Answer:
If the configuration in the internal memory of SiViB gets corrupted, the red LED „Card Error“ will go on.
Please check the configuration setup and send it to the instrument. As soon as SiViB has a valid
setup, the red LED should go off.
Question:
What is the difference between
Read Trend Data serial
and
Read Trend Data serial store to TXT
file
?
Answer:
Read Trend Data serial stores the data to the trend data files. The data from these files is used when
displaying a trend graph. Data uploaded at a later time is appended to the same file and the trend
graph updated accordingly. The file names for these files are set by Record Control.
Read Trend Data and store to TXT file should be used if you want to open the file with a spreadsheet
program for further calculations or customized graphs. You will be prompted for a file name. These
files can not be used by Record Control for showing trend graphs.
