Ethernet/CAN Gateway
Connections
Power supply 24 V DC
CAN-Bus cable between SiViB(s) and the gateway. Use either the sub D 9-pin connector or the screw
terminals.
Termination resistor at both ends of the CAN-Bus cable. If the gateway is on one cable end, you can
use the internal termination resistor by switching the corresponding dip switch to on.
Ethernet cable from the gateway to a hub or switch of your Ethernet system.
Configuration of the gateway
The gateway needs a fix IP adress. Further, you will need to know the Subnet mask of your network
system.
You can set the adress and other options for the gateway by editing the file EthCANGatewax.txt in the
record Control software folder. Open the file using a text editor, e.g. Edit or Wordpad. When you have
strored the changes, the file has to be transferred to the gateway.
Connect the PC to the gateway using the RS232 conectors and a nullmodem cable.
Start Hyperterminal by double clicking Eth_CAN.ht ind the record control folder.
You will get a message like this:

Close Hyperterminal and boot the gateway.
Configure the Software
Go to the system options screen, tab communication, select “Ethernet-CAN Gateway. Enter the
Ethernet adress of the gateway. Leave the port set to the standard setting “8234”. Store the changes
and close and reopen the software.
Signal LEDs on the gateway
Power: Power supply is O.K.
Link: connetion to the Ethernet hub is O.K.
Connect: Connection to Record Control software is established. Will go off some seconds after closing
the software.
Active and Traffic are blinking when there is traffic on the system
Error Ethernet and Error CAN go on or blinking when there are errors in the communication.
