Optional Side Removal of Battery
WARNING
Batteries are heavy and can cause an injury. Always
use a battery roller stand or tray when trucks are
equipped with optional battery rollers or slide. Use
extreme care to protect hand and other body parts
from serious injury while removing and installing bat-
tery.
Lift trucks can be equipped with optional side battery
removal. See
. This option consists of a battery
removal door on the right side of the lift truck and a roller or
slider tray beneath the battery. To remove the battery,
reach through the slot in the right side floor plate, grasp the
vertical bar, and slide the mechanism toward the front of
the truck. The mechanism will lock in place. Remove the
battery removal door from the lift truck. Position a suitable
battery stand or roller tray next to the battery compartment.
Be sure that the height of the battery stand is the same as
the height of the bottom of the battery in the lift truck.
Remove the battery from the lift truck onto the battery
stand.
To install the battery, position the battery and battery stand
next to the lift truck. Slide the battery from the battery stand
into the battery compartment using the roller tray.
Make sure the battery fits the battery compartment width
with a maximum of 13 mm (0.50 in.) clearance. Secure the
battery retention mechanism and install the battery removal
door.
