Automatic Parking Brake
The lift trucks covered in this
Operating Manual
may be
equipped with an optional Automatic Parking Brake (APB).
The APB will apply to the traction motor after the truck
stops if the operator does any of the following actions:
•
Leaves the seat.
•
Turns the lift truck power to
OFF
.
•
Takes his foot off the accelerator or MONOTROL®
pedal, and leaves it off until the truck coasts to a stop.
To release the APB, the operator must follow the procedure
below:
1.
Sit in the seat.
2.
Fasten the seat belt.
3.
Turn the key or keyless switch to the
ON
position, if the
lift truck power was turned OFF.
4.
Press the service brake pedal, if the operator left the
seat or if lift truck power was turned OFF.
5.
Press the accelerator or MONOTROL® pedal.
If the lift truck loses power and has to be towed, there is a
manual override handle that will disable the APB. The man-
ual override handle is located underneath the floor mat and
floor plate and mounted to the front bulkhead. To apply the
manual override, remove the floor mat and floor plate and
pull the handle up. See
