11.9 Removing the lower triple clamp
Preparatory work
–
Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand. ( p. 43)
–
Remove the front wheel. ( p. 90)
–
Remove the fork legs. ( p. 46)
–
Remove the start number plate. ( p. 55)
–
Remove front fender. ( p. 56)

Main work
–
Pull fuel tank breather

out of the steering stem.
–
Remove nut

, loosen screw

, take off the upper triple
clamp with the handlebar, and place it to one side.
Info
Cover the components to protect them against dam-
age.
Do not kink the cables and lines.

Remove protective ring

Remove the lower triple clamp with the steering stem.
–
Remove the upper steering head bearing.

Main work
–
Clean the bearing and sealing elements, check for damage,
and grease.
High viscosity grease ( p. 129)
–
Insert the lower triple clamp with the steering stem. Mount
upper steering head bearing

Check whether upper steering head seal

tioned.

Push on protective ring
