Fetal Event Marker
The Fetal Event Marker is a pushbutton switch fitted with a captive cable and connector
which is available as an optional accessory. It is plugged into the socket on the side of the
unit. The switch allows maternally sensed fetal movements to be captured. See section
8.5 for further information.
Only connect the Fetal Event Marker switch supplied with
the FM800E, or listed in the FM800E Accessories &
Consumables brochure. Do not connect any other item of
equipment to the Fetal Event Marker socket.
Before use, inspect the Fetal Event Marker switch and
connecting cable assembly, ensuring that it is clean and
undamaged. See section 17.3 for cleaning procedures.
The Fetal Event Marker must be kept dry. Do not immerse
or use in the presence of liquids.

Maternal ECG
Monitoring MECG allows a check to be made that the fetal heart rate being recorded does
in fact belong to the fetus and not the mother.

Audio signal
An audio signal is available for MECG. If Audio is selected for MECG, the FM800E beeps
each time it detects a maternal heartbeat. The volume control and channel select buttons
are on the front panel of the FM800E.
To select Audio for MECG, press Channel Select until the Audio symbol appears by the
MECG display. To turn Audio off completely, press Channel Select until the Audio symbol
does not appear at all.
