134 Servicing & Upgrading

Reinstall one disk module in each redundancy group (one odd slot and one 

even slot) and wait until the disk format operation is complete and the disks 

come online. Use Command View to monitor the disk status.

When the disks have come online, repeat this step for the next set of disks. 

Repeat until all disk modules have been installed. 

Note

There is only one redundancy group on the VA 7110, so only 

one disk module at a time should be installed.

Check the status of the array to ensure it is operating normally.

Note

If the disk enclosure was installed on a VA 7400 and the LUNs 

on the array are no longer visible, it indicates that the FC Loop 

Speed switches were not set to 1GB/s as instructed in step 2. 

Power off the disk enclosure and repeat the above procedure.

If the disks in the new enclosure are formatted with 512-byte 

sectors, they will be reformatted to 520-byte sectors. This process 

may take up to 60 minutes to complete, depending on disk drive 

capacity and system availability. See 

Table 23 on page 99

 for 

raw format times. During this time, the green disk activity LED 

will be flashing.

Upgrading Single to Dual Array Controllers

(HP Service Personnel Only)

Caution

To prevent data loss, it is recommended that a full backup be 

performed before starting this procedure.

An array with a single array controller can be upgraded to a dual array 

controller configuration by adding an upgrade array controller.
To upgrade from a single to a dual array controller configuration:

Install DIMMs (ordered separately) on the upgrade controller. See 

"Installing an Array Controller DIMM" on page 120

.

Install the upgrade array controller. See 

"Installing an Array Controller" on 

page 110
