The paper deck controller 3 determines a PD cassette 3 lifter motor failure and notifies the formatter

through the DC controller when the PD cassette 3 media stack surface sensor does not detect the paper

surface within a specified period from when the PD cassette 3 lifter motor starts rotating.

Paper deck cassette media-presence detection

The paper deck controller detects whether the paper is loaded in the cassette by monitoring the PD

cassette media out sensor.

The cassette media-presence detection is not performed during Sleep mode.

The paper deck controller determines a media-absence and notifies the formatter through the DC

controller when the PD cassette media out sensor does not detect the paper.

The paper deck uses the following sensors to detect the presence of paper and to check whether paper

is being fed correctly or has jammed:
