Programming a Precedex (dexmedetomidine hydrochloride
injection) Delivery
If configured and used by your facility, you can program a Precedex delivery while
programming a Weight Dosed therapy.
Note: Titrate rate, loading dose, and titrate VTBI are available in Precedex therapy.
To program a Precedex delivery:

Select
WEIGHT DOSED
from the Programming menu.

Select
MCG/KG/HR
as the unit of measure.

The pump displays
IS THIS A PRECEDEX THERAPY
? Press [
YES/ENTER
].

Enter patient weight in kg, and then press [
YES/ENTER
].

Enter the concentration:

Enter the unit of measure for the value flashing on the display.

Use the key to toggle between the values, and then press [
YES/ENTER
].

Enter the rate, and then press [
YES/ENTER
].

Enter the VTBI in mL, and then press [
YES/ENTER
].

The pump displays
PROGRAM A LOADING DOSE?
Press [
YES/ENTER
] to
program a loading dose or [
NO
] to review the program.

If programming a loading dose, specify a dose, time, and rate using the key
to toggle between the parameters, and then press [
YES/ENTER
].

Review the program using the key; when finished, press [
YES/ENTER
].

If using the PURGE key to prime the pump set, press [
PURGE
] now.

Press [
START
] to begin the Precedex delivery.

Note: Rate is entered in mcg/kg/hr, and then displays in mL/hr.
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect the pump set from the patient before
priming or purging.
