1. Change the engine oil and filters (page 153).
2. Make sure the cooling system is filled with a 50/50% antifreeze 

solution (page 169).

3. Fill the fuel tank. Make sure the fuel fill cap is properly installed.
4. To prevent rusting in the cylinder, perform the following:

• Remove the air cleaner outer cover (page 140), and disconnect 

the spark plug caps from the spark plugs.

• Remove the spark plugs.

Do not connect the spark plugs to the spark plug caps.

• Pour a tablespoon (15 – 20 cc) of clean engine oil into the 

cylinder and cover the spark plug holes with a piece of cloth.

• Turn the ignition switch to the START (

p

) position and crank 

the engine several times to distribute the oil.

• Reinstall the spark plugs, spark plug caps, and air cleaner outer 

cover.
