INSPECTION/ADJUSTMENT 

CAM CHAIN TENSION 

Stop the engine and remove the generator 

rotor cover. Rotate the generator rotor counter-

clockwise and align the  " T 1 " mark on the spark 
advancer  w i t h the index mark on the left 
crank case cover. 

Loosen the cam chain tensioner lock nut. 

When the lock nut is loosened the cam chain 

will be automatically positioned to provide the 

correct tension. 

After adjustment, tighten the lock nut securely. 

NOTE 

When tightening the lock nut, hold the 

adjusting bolt to prevent it  f r o m turning 
w i t h the lock nut.

THROTTLE OPERATION 

Inspect

 the  t h r o t t l e cable for deterioration, 

damage, or kinks and measure the throttle 
grip free play at the  t h r o t t l e grip flange. 

T H R O T T L E GRIP FREE PLAY. 

2 - 6  m m  ( 1 / 8 - 1 / 4 in.) 

Check for smooth  t h r o t t l e grip rotation  f r o m 
f u l l y closed to  f u l l y open in all steering posi-
tions. Adjust or replace as necessary. 

Adjust the free play, by loosening the adjust-
ing lock nut and turning the adjuster. 

Tighten the lock nut securely. 

Major adjustments are made  w i t h the lower 

adjuster on the carburetor. 

Install the rubber cap securely, after adjust-

ment.
