Operation
The detector is not fitted with an on/off switch, it is automatically switched on when the 3 batteries are inserted.
This is to ensure that the alarm cannot be inadvertently switched off and therefore fail to detect a build-up of
carbon monoxide. The green power light should flash every 60 seconds when the power is on. If the light is not
flashing, turn off the power and check all wire connections. If the power is on and the connections are correct, but
the indicator still does not light, the detector should be returned for service. Do not attempt to fix the detector. The
indicator light displays a specific color to monitor along with a matching sound pattern.
Indicator Lights and Sound Patterns:
NORMAL OPERATION:
When no carbon monoxide is present, the power green light will flash
approximately once every 60 seconds.
ALARM CONDITIONS:
When the unit detects carbon monoxide the alarm signal continuously sounds.
The red alarm light will flash and the alarm will sound approximately 4 times every 5 seconds. When the
unit has been in alarm for a period of approximately 4 minutes, the alarm signal will be given every 60
seconds.
TEST/RESET BUTTON:
If required, the audible alarm signal can be silenced for a period of 6 minutes
by pushing the Test/Reset button on the front of the unit. The red light will continue to flash. If the carbon
monoxide is still present after the 6 minute period, the audible alarm will resume the previous alarm
condition.
END OF LIFE:
The unit has a limited life of about 5 years. The green light will flash 3 times and alarm
will beep 3 times every 60 seconds. The unit must be replaced.
Alarm
When the alarm sounds, operate the reset/silence button. Call emergency services. Evacuate the motorhome
immediately when the red light flashes and the alarm sounds. Do a head count to check that all persons are
accounted for. Do not re-enter the recreational vehicle until it has been aired out and the problem corrected. If the
alarm reactivates within a 24 hour period, repeat previous steps and call a qualified technician to examine and/or
turn off gas/oil fired appliances.
Potential Sources of CO:
Engine exhaust.
Portable space heaters.
Defective engine exhaust system.
Portable grills.
Gas stoves and ovens.
Portable generators.
Generator exhaust.
Camp fires.
Nearby recreational vehicles.
Testing
Test Procedures:
Test the Carbon Monoxide detector operation after the recreational vehicle has been in storage, before each trip
and at least once a week during use. The alarm operation can be checked for correct operation by pushing the
TEST/RESET button. This will generate two Alarm Sequences, 5 seconds apart. First sequence green light will
be on for duration switch is depressed and red light flahes 4 times and beeps 4 times. Second sequence green light
flashes once and red light flashes 4 times and beeps 4 times.
