4. Bead breaking
With the tyre changers a pneumatic tyre bead breaker
is part of the standard equipment.
Please mind the special handling of Run-flat tires, wheels
with TD rims or rims having an asymmetric hump.
4.1 Adjustment of the bead breaker blade
–
monty 3300 2-speed 24 /GP
So that the tire sides, the rim flanges or the inner side
of the rim (especially with alloy rims) are not damaged
by the bead breaker blade, the monty 3300 2-speed
24/GP machines are equipped with an adjusting screw
(Fig. 7,Pos. X ) to influence travel of the bead breaker
blade (rim contour) during the bead breaking
operation. Adjustment and rim contour are illustrated
in Fig.7.

Views X and Y show adjustment of the bead breaker
blade and travel of the blade during the bead breaking
operation.
How to proceed
(Fig. 7, X)
•
Turn the nut (Pos 1).
•
Depending on the adjusting screw setting (spring
compression) and the resulting bead breaking
force, the tip of the blade moves, following the
profile (see view y for an example of profiles). The
extent depends on the spring compression, which
in turn depends on the adjusting screw setting.
With the screw tightened fully home, the spring
compression is zero and the tip of the blade is in
the zero position (during the entire bead breaking
operation the tip of the blade turns rigidly).
•
After adjustment, tighten the lock nuts (1, 2) again.

•
For lateral adjustment (maximum opening) remove
the locating bolt (3), move the blade (1) inwards or
outwards and refit the locating bolt.
