Exicor GEN5 User Manual 

 

 

Clicking on the 

Offsets

 button performs a single point measurement at the current x-

y position to use as a baseline for sample measurements.  There should be no 
sample in the beam path when pushing the 

Offsets

 button.  Clicking on the 

Home & 

Reset

 button reinitializes the system hardware.  The 

Notes

 button is used to add 

comments to the current data file.  The 

Statistics

 button shows the birefringence 

magnitude and fast axis angle statistics for the current scan.

Figure 4.12 shows the status bar located at the bottom of the Exicor GEN5 main 
window. 

 

Figure 4.12 Sample Thickness Indicator 

This bar shows the sample thickness that has been entered by the user.  It is 
important to have an accurate sample thickness if you wish to plot the differential 
stress in the sample.  The sample thickness is for display only and can be changed 
by starting a new scan and defining new sample thickness as described on page 24.  
It can also be changed in the system settings window.
