The birefringence plot, which is the graphical display of the scan data, appears in the 
central plot area.  The format of your graph depends on the graph type you have 
selected.  
Other buttons and panels in the window allow you to define the scan region, 
customize the scan, format the graph, etc. Each area and button of this window is 
further explained in this chapter.  The main sections of the Exicor main window are 
shown in the following figure.
