4.1.6 COM Port Settings
Hermstedt ISDN adapters provide you with one or more virtual Com-
munications Ports. A virtual Communications Port works just like a
conventional, serial communications port, and can be used just like
one. Instead of being a piece of hardware built into your computer, a
virtual Communications Port exists only in software, and allows you to
establish connections over ISDN.
Using virtual Communications Ports, you can work with conventional
software like terminal emulators, fax software, or the software of an
on-line service with ISDN, even if these programs cannot use CAPI.
The Hermstedt software provides these programs the notion of a
modem connected through a serial port.
You may choose each single adapter from the topmost list and then
change its configuration.
