This creates a port “COM3:” for the WebShuttle II , which looks like
a modem connected to a serial port to the AOL software.
3.1.2 Setting up AOL
To set up the AOL software to use WebShuttle II follow these steps:
1. Install the AOL software from the AOL CD-ROM.
After installing the software you’ll need to restart your computer.
You’ll find a folder “AOL” on you hard disk:
2. Launch AOL by double-clicking it.
After a few moments, the following “Welcome” window is shown:
3. If the shown settings are ok, click Yes, otherwise No.
You created a virtual COM port, COM3, using the X.75 standard
protocol. This port was recognized automatically by the AOL soft-
ware and set.
