The Camera Operating Controls
All the major controls necessary for operating the camera and programming information into
the camera are grouped around the LCD display on top of the camera grip where they can be
operated conveniently with one hand. The controls are as follows.
The Shutter Release button (item 19, Figure 4-1), when pressed halfway, activates the
focusing and metering systems. Pressing the release halfway always saves a change and
returns directly to normal operation (the Home screen). Fully pressed, it makes the exposure
or turns on the self-timer or interval timer and moves the fi lm to the next frame (unless the
camera is set for multiple exposures).
The controls are, starting from the upper left: Flash; AF; Drive (called the ISO/WB button
on the H3DII cameras), which is used mainly to lock all the settings; Menu; the Illumination
Button; and ON/OFF. The Flash button brings the Flash menu on the screen (described in
more detail in the section Flash Photography). It also brings up the ISO for digital imaging,
which is changed with the front wheel and the color temperature, which is changed with
the rear wheel. The control is sometimes indicated on the screen by the word EXIT because
